Gabions

When removing flood damages in 1997 an almost forgotten technology of slope protection started to be used – cantilever walls made of wire-baskets, which are filled with rubble stone, so-called GABIONS.

This technology is known to our senior workers since 50ties and 60ties, and up to the present day one can see this abutment wall in Morávka, which was constructed by our ancestors around 1960.

The first cantilever wall, which was built up by Lesostavby Frýdek Místek in 1997 can be found in Příbor – securing bank slide of river Lubina.

In present time we get over a large number of constructed cantilever walls to secure landslips and watershed stabilizations. The biggest structure is about 100 m long and 12 m high.
